Privacy statement
Last updated: 30 July 2026
The short version
- Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser — text you paste or type into a tool is never sent anywhere.
- There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no cookies.
- The only data involved is basic, cookieless site analytics, and — only if you choose to email us — your message.
Who this is
BitsAreFun is an independently run site. For anything in this statement — questions, requests, or to exercise any of the rights below — contact .
What data is collected
Tool usage — none
Every tool runs client-side: whatever you paste, type, or open in a tool is processed in your own browser and never transmitted to this site or any server it operates. There's no backend for the tools to send data to in the first place. Where a tool takes a file — the image tools, for example — choosing or dragging in that file hands it to the page you're already on; it isn't uploaded, and it never leaves your device.
Website analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand roughly how many people visit and which pages are popular. It's specifically chosen because it's cookieless and doesn't use any persistent identifier to track you — it can't link your visit today to a visit tomorrow, and it can't identify you personally. It reports aggregated numbers only: page views, referring sites, rough (country-level) location, and device/browser type. Cloudflare processes this on our behalf as a data processor.
Local preferences (not cookies)
Your theme choice (light/dark) and a handful of per-tool settings (like which options you last used on a given tool) are saved using your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your own device — it's never transmitted to us — and you can clear it anytime by clearing your browser's site data.
If you contact us
If you use the Contact page or email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever you write, used only to read and respond to your message. That correspondence is handled like ordinary email — it isn't stored on any server this site operates — and is kept only as long as reasonably needed to resolve your inquiry and any follow-up.
Cookies
This site doesn't use cookies at all. Dutch and EU rules only require a consent banner for non-essential tracking cookies or similar storage — since the analytics tool above sets no cookies and the localStorage use above is purely functional (it only remembers settings you yourself chose, and is never used to track or identify you), neither needs your consent, so there's no banner here.
Your rights
Under the GDPR (in Dutch: AVG), you have the right to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you, restrict or object to how it's processed, and request a copy of it. Since this site collects so little in the first place, most of these apply only to correspondence from the Contact page — contact us using the address above to exercise any of them. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
